Event Description:

From the beginning of Cuba’s colonization in 1511 and the decimation of the native population through the creation of a free Republic in 1902 by accepting a unique American amendment to Cuba’s constitution, to the status of Communist state, Cuba has a rich and fascinating history. When joining this Tour you will learn from Cubans about their version of the history beyond the tales about Teddy Roosevelt and his riders on San Juan Hill and the triumphant Cuban Revolution that paved the way to today’s social, political and economical landscape. You will be able to learn about the racial, sexual and political diversity and the dynamics associated to them from scholars, but also by meeting with organizations, visiting neighborhoods, meeting with locals and joining cultural events.
