Day 1) — U.S./Havana, Cuba

  • Flight departure from USA to Havana, Cuba
  • Flight arrives at “Jose Marti” International Airport in Havana, Cuba.
  • Passengers go through Immigration control and customs security clearance before claiming baggage and proceed to exit. C.A.P’S TOURS Rep will be waiting outside with a local tour guide to lead the group members to the bus and go to the hotel in Havana.
  • Meeting at hotel lobby for Introductions and review of itinerary details
  • Light lunch at Hotel
  • Walking Tour of Old Havana with a local, to learn about Cuban architecture and about the current restoration programs conducted by NGOs in Havana. Visit local’s dwellings and learn about Cuban’s living conditions in Old Havana.
  • Dinner at “El Litoral”, one of Havana’s newest and best family-run restaurants.
  • Options will be provided to enjoy cultural activities in the evening.

( Day 2 ) — Havana

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Depart to explore modern Havana by bus, stopping along the way to rest and learn about places of historical and/or cultural relevance, such as the Capitol building, the Revolution Square, the University of Havana, etc.
  • Visit Cuba’s largest cemetery: “Colon”; which also considered a Museum and historical site. Learn about Cuban culture and how cemeteries are run in this “socialist” country.
  • Lunch at “El Aljibe” restaurant in Miramar area.
  • Visit community Project lead by American writer living in Havana.  Learn about the project and the challenges faced by a foreigner living in Cuba.
  • Walk around the recently-opened Embassy of the USA in Havana.
  • Dinner at “San Cristobal” Restaurant; one of Havana’s best privately owned restaurants, where President Obama had dinner during his recent visit to Cuba. Learn from Restaurant Owner & staff about running a Private business in today’s Cuba.

( Day 3) Havana- Cienfuegos

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Depart for Cienfuegos city. Drive by Bay of Pigs area, an important historical site where armed men intended to end with Cuba’s Revolution in 1961.
  • Lunch on the road.
  • Visit the Museum of “Playa Giron”, which displays pictures and artifacts related to the actions that took place in the area. Discuss the different perspective on that historical event.
  • City tour of Cienfuegos. Learn about the history of the only city in Cuba founded by French immigrants.
  • Dinner on own at local restaurant (Suggestions will be provided). NOT INCLUDED in Package price

( Day 4 ) — Cienfuegos- Trinidad

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Hotel check-out and Departure to Trinidad City, located on the central part of Cuba. Trinidad is one of the oldest cities of Cuba and the best preserved colonial town in the country.
  • Walk the cobble-stoned streets of the 16th century-founded town.
  • Lunch on own, at local privately owned restaurant.  NOT INCLUDED in Package price
  • Visit old homes and meet with local business people, artists, etc (Ex.”Casa del Alfarero”, “Casas de Renta”) people in the old town.  Learn about rural life in Cuba.
  • Visit local artists’ projects and meet with artists.
  • Dinner at Hotel

(Day 5) — Trinidad-Havana

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Departure for Havana driving through “Topes de Collantes”, small town located on nearby mountains.
  • Lunch on the road NOT INCLUDED in Package price
  • Dinner at “El Cocinero”, one of the newest privately owned restaurants
  • Visit “Fabrica de Arte”, the most popular art’s project in Havana, where visual artists, musicians and young entrepreneurs express their talents.

(Day 6) — Havana

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Departure to Visit “Finca Vigia”, Ernest Hemingway’s house in Havana. Meet with historian to talk about Hemingway’s life in Cuba and to learn about the restoration to the house which has been supported by US organizations and individuals.
  • Lunch in Old Havana on own, NOT INCLUDED in Package price
  • Visit art galleries and market. Engage in conversations with locals
  • Dinner at Paladar “La Guarida”, one of the oldest and most popular privately owned restaurants in Cuba, where Oscar-nominated film “Strawberry and Chocolate” was filmed.

(Day 7) — Havana-U.S.A

  • Hotel check-out
  • Transfer to “Jose Marti” International Airport in Havana.
  • Flight departs to USA from Havana
